> Bread roll dead ahead
Day 192 – Sat 10 April - 15,859km, Caparolo, Angola
After two very relaxing and fun weeks, I sadly had to say goodbye to Helen this morning as she hopped on a bus back to Luanda and I continued southward alone again. Within no time I was missing her Portuguese as I tried to haggle for an omelette roll by the roadside. Having undoubtedly been ripped off and not wishing to look too closely at the flecks of pepper that tasted distinctly like street dirt, I bolted it down on the move. My food choices didn’t improve as I next bought, at a tiny rural village, two of the oldest, driest rolls I’ve ever had the mispleasure of tasting. So impressive was the bread in causing me to dehydrate, I would strongly recommend that the IPCC investigate using them in the ocean to combat rising sea levels! No doubt birdlife international would strongly support such a move and then all you need is for polar bears to evolve their diet and you have the ultimate solution to African poverty and melting ice caps! Going up long steady climbs in the heat of the day, may also have had a part to play in my need to consume 9 litres of water and my current headache. Camping wild on a mine free trail i'm surrounded by scattered acacia scrub, massive baobabs, mountains and some ominous lightening storms.
