> No miss-steak!
Day 205 – Fri 23 April - 17,507 km, camping wild, 12km short of Sehithwa, Botswana
Cycling a massive 211km today, it wasn’t so much the prospect of England World Cup glory that drove me on, but the promise of a steak and a few beers from my old friend Twinky, if I make it to Maun for Saturday night. Riding from dawn till dusk with only occasional peanut butter sandwich breaks, I was able to average 21kmh when riding thanks to the flat terrain, intermittently helpful cross winds and visions of a prime cut of sirloin in an ocean of chips. Surrounded by the eerie calls of jackals, I would be worried they were after my smash and corned meat, but I expect they prefer better than the 45% lean meat content proudly advertised on the tin.
